Treesilience STL began in 2021 in the 24:1 community of North St. Louis County in collaboration with Beyond Housing and The Nature Conservancy (TNC). Since then it has expanded to North St. Louis City thanks to Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) funding from the USDA Forest Service. The initial focus area in the City is Fairgrounds, O’Fallon Park, Kingsway East, The Ville and Greater Ville. Currently Beyond Housing and Forest ReLeaf of Missouri are continuing the Treesilience work with separate funding sources administered through the Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC).
Forest ReLeaf of Missouri brings communities together by planting trees and enriching communities. Treesilience STL City’s program components include tree removal and maintenance, tree planting, restorative justice, along with stewardship training and education, a tree champion stipend program, and more. Beyond Housing is a nationally recognized community development organization dedicated to strengthening families and transforming our under-resourced communities to create a stronger, more equitable, and prosperous St. Louis, once and for all.
