Heartland Tree Alliance (HTA) brings communities together to plant and care for Kansas City’s urban trees with free tree programs, education and training, an arborist pre-apprenticeship program, volunteer engagement, and more. Community Capital Fund was selected by The Nature Conservancy as an awardee for a Treesilience pilot in partnership with the Eastwood Hills Community Association for fall of 2024. Resources are limited and will cover removal of some dead ash trees on private property in the Eastwood Hills neighborhood. HTA will provide tree replacement and education through their partnership with the City of Kansas City. Participants of Tree Corps, their arborist pre-apprenticeship, will be given opportunity to observe operations. Forest ReLeaf and MDC have provided technical assistance.
